Routine Colonoscopy Countdown.

 It's prep time. T minus 3 days.

Meal 1. Gluten free rice bubbles and vanilla yoghurt and 2 mugs of white coffee.


On the upside, yesterday was the Perth monthly fountain pen enthusiast meeting, so we sat around and talked, drew, wrote and looked at each others' pretty pens and ink and drank coffee or whatever everyone else was drinking.

Finished reading Network Effect to Rob and Mum last night, and we all started a rewatch of the serial. We'd eaten a delicious Indian takeaway, as a farewell to interesting food for me for 3 days. Mmm Vindaloo.

A pen meetup sounds fun!

It is! I sat and drew with my new Kakimori nib - very odd but a dip lasts aaaages, and used the February 2024 ink from Van Diemen's ink, and someone brought a little book they'd bound themselves, and other people were doing the inevitable swatching and it was all very companionable.

Oh, that sounds great. Swatching as social interaction! Delightful!

I've sewn simple books. Also, thanks to my craftiest auntie, I've had one try each at making marbled paper with floating paint, and indigo dying alum'd heavy paper, creating lovely materials for paper art including book covers. Even before finishing it in some such manner, high-quality special-purpose paper comes in so many types and can be such a tactile pleasure. Sketchbooks are fun...

Well. I'm not in the pen fandom (yet) but I'm obviously well within the target (crafty, wordy, enjoy DIY, appreciate craftsmanship, enjoy sorting objects) demographic for my friends to try penabling me at some point. It's nice to know the hobby can be a companionable one, offline, if one is in the right place!

Not really? I just like trying different crafts. I'm not a Master in any of them, though.

Yikes. Yes, I understand the goal is to be as empty as possible on the happy day.

I've told you about the juror who found herself having to explain in open court why she couldn't be on the jury for extra days? Yep, that was why.

I also like pens, but my beloved Mont Blanc doesn't have the right pedigree for a fountain pen club. I understand it takes actual talent to use them without splotching ink?
