T-1 Day

Yes, the artwork really is that big, it's not an exaggeration!

But it's late, Wabacon and the wedding have been, we had food poisoning, we're okay now, Madness and Caravana Sun were great, will talk more on them later, and Swancon Is Coming.

So, teeth and bed.

Madness were on the lawn at the Fremantle Arts Centre, lovely night, lovely venue, excellent support band. Must go to bed but if you're a Madness fan get yourself a ticket if they're still available for tomorrow night.

Hmm.

Livejournal is getting strange.

For those who are considering a back up or transferal to a less intrusive site : https://www.dreamwidth.org/support/faqbrowse?faqid=127 ;

I'm delighted to let you know that one of my works, "A Matter of Scale" by Alicia Smith (in case you only know me as leece - it happens) has made the short list for Tin Duck eligibility, so check it out when it has its first showing at the Swancon Art Show in a couple of weeks.

It would be cool to win a Tin Duck after all these years. (not that I often put in an entry :-) )

This work took me some weeks to complete, and was the first serious test of my WACOM Cintech screen tablet thingy.

Some fine pieces this year. It's on until Sunday if you want to catch it. Amberjack's does very nice gluten free grilled Spanish Mackeral and Chips.

Lei Huan - Narration of the Sea. A Stained Glass Nautilus.

Lei Huan's lovely Narration of the Sea got a lot of attention.

So I've got a few days until the nominations are finalised. I'm impressed by the way they get you to submit them - excellent for last minute discoveries and changes of mind.

rattfan on Dreamwidth lent me Silver on the Road by Laura Anne Gilman - damn fine read so that's one of the ones I'm putting up.

The Liaden books, both series and the most recent novel and some other series I've been enjoying. I'm delighted to have found the Raksura series available on Overdrive through the library online system.

Stranger Things which while on the edge of bearable watching for me - just so tense - I've put up too. This is a gem. I've got some others but this one is really good to my mind.

What would you nominate? There's probably stuff I've forgotten, maybe you'll remind me. I've no idea for the new author - I read so many...

Husband rdm (at dreamwidth) has written an excellent account of our experiences at the Gluten Free Expo 10 year anniversary, with photos.

I did a heap of Fringe reviewing last year, and had a really good time.

I encourage everyone to peruse the Fringe program so here's what's on today https://www.fringeworld.com.au/whats_on/whats_on_today/

I'm unlikely to go much this year - haven't even seen a single mermaid yet (sigh and they're free!) because of us going to Finland and saving the money, brainspace and energies for all that's involved in that.

I'm looking sadly at my review site on Google Plus which is right here - I did many Fringe reviews last year -https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/107887485468519838860/stream/8861fa96-02e8-492a-b9ef-229895f21fbc which I've not been able to populate with Fringeness. So here's an invite any of you attending Fringe to post your reviews, links to same or if you'd like to let me to link to anything you've written let me know. At least I can then enjoy it vicariously and my review site has some Fringe love.

Highly recommended: And Now For Something Completely Wireless.
